Avoca Museum, 1514 Main St., Altavista, will hold its annual Town Appreciation Day, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, April 19. The event features a presentation, “African-American Slave Burial and Funerary Customs of the Antebellum Period,” from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. followed by house tours from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. The event is free and includes refreshments.
