TGIF Open Mic Night

FREE ADMISSION...The Altavista Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting TGIF again for 2018 the 4th Fridays from May-August. The location for this event can't be beat, it is held under the beautiful oak trees at the picturesque Avoca Museum. Gates open at 6pm. ID required to purchase beer or wine. Bring your lawn chair and your dancing shoes.

TGIF - OPEN MIC! - This event is sure to be lots of fun as area entertainers are invited to present a 1 to 3 song performance to your hometown crowd! You can bring your own guitar or keyboard. You can also practice to a track on your smart phone and use that in the show! There will be three mikes, for multiple person acts. No pre sign up is mandatory, but feel free to drop an email to Jodie Davis, local musician and the host for this event, at, on Facebook (jodie.davis.007) or leave a message at 434-841-8658 with any questions. Participants will be called to perform in the order they are signed in. Bring friends to cheer you on! This is ALSO where you will sign up for the HUGE Uncle Billy's Day OPEN MIC occurring Friday June 1, just before the WORX concert. There will be a total 10 acts selected to perform at UBD, and the final picks will be made by Open Mic judges.

UBD - OPEN MIC! - This is a new event for UBD and will be hosted by Jodie Davis, a local musician. It will take place on the main Booker Building stage, just before THE WORX perform through the same professional grade sound system! In order to have smooth flow, we are pre-arranging the 1 to 3 song acts at the TGIF open mic event the previous Friday, May 25th, at Avoca. There will only be a total 10 acts selected top perform, and the final picks will be made by the Open Mic judges. There will be a 1st and second place awards given at the UBD Open MIC. First place will receive a professional recording of a song by Fainting Goat Studio.
