Parks & Trails Master Plan Public Meeting #2

The Town of Altavista is continuing the process of developing a Parks and Trails Master Plan. The town has partnered with Land Planning and Design Associates to develop master plans for English and Shreve Parks and create a Town-wide multi-use trail system plan. The process will involve an in-depth assessment of the Town of Altavista’s needs. An assessment of each park and the existing trails network has been completed. On November 14th the town held a public information meeting to solicit specific input from the public regarding the parks and trails system. The meeting was extremely well attended and over 75 citizens expressed their opinions on the parks. In addition, an on-line public survey was created for which 206 area residents responded. The information gathered from these two sessions has now been analyzed. Draft recommendations and master plans have been created and are to be presented for community feedback.

A meeting to hear community feedback on the recommendations and plans is scheduled for Tuesday, January 23, 2018. The public is invited to comment on the plans and recommendations for future improvements. The master plan will be incorporated into the town Capital Improvements Program (CIP) budget. Therefore, feedback on the direction is very important.
