Boating Safety Education Courses will be held on March 21 and April 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Altavista Train Station. 

The courses are free.        


Operators of motorboats with motors of 10 hp and more and who are 50 years of age or younger by July 1, 2015 as well as all operators of Personal Watercraft (PWC) regardless of age are required by Virginia law to have passed such a course and possess a boating safety course completion certificate.

The courses are taught by members of U.S. Coast Guard Auxillary Flotilla 85 to improve the safe operation of watercraft and as a courtesy to the public.

                

These courses are sponsored in the interest of boating safety by the Leesville Lake Association, a non-profit, member-based organization that promotes the health, safety and beauty of Leesville Lake.
